“Picnic” a big success

Picnic in the Park was a huge success. Thanks to Kenosha County Executive Jim Kreuser and his chief of staff, Jennie Tunkieicz, for inviting Rebecca and the Grey Notes to perform. Little things help define a successful festival: clean toilets, trash picked up, friendly park attendants, lots of family-friendly things to do. And, of course, the beer garden was full! We hope enough good things happened that the festival will return next year. And we were honored to be opening for “American Idol” contestant and Milwaukee native Naima Adedapo, who put on a great performance. All in all, a great day.

Next: Picnic in the Park

Our next show will be on Saturday, Aug. 11, at Picnic in the Park, a family-friendly all-day event at Petrifying Springs Park on Kenosha’s north side. Live music begins at 11 a.m.; our first chord will be struck at 4 p.m. We’ll be opening for the incomparable American Idol contestant Naima Adedapo.

Thanks, State Fair!

Thanks to the Wisconsin State Fair and Major Goolsby’s Heartland Stage for inviting us to perform on Sunday, Aug. 5. Despite the heat, we had a great crowd, and the Major’s crew treated us like royalty. Next up: Arriba Mexican Restaurant on Friday, Aug. 10, beginning at 7 p.m., and Kenosha County’s Picnic in the Park, 4-6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11. We return to Arriba for our once-a-month residency to play in the venue’s acoustically perfect music room and bar. The Picnic in the Park is an all-day, family-friendly event at Petrifying Springs Park, 5555 7th St., Kenosha, and we are pleased to be opening for fabulous female vocalist Naima Adedapo. Hope to see you there.

Radio air play

While the band is preparing for its performance Sunday, Aug. 5, beginning at noon at the Wisconsin State Fair, we also don’t want to ignore another major gig for us: Picnic in the Park, happening Aug. 11 in Kenosha County. We just found out that our second album, “Volume Two,” will be featured every day next week by radio station WGTD-FM in Kenosha County. One song from the CD will be played at 12:20 p.m. Monday through Friday, Aug. 6-10. You can listen over the air at 91.1 on the FM dial or listen via the station’s homepage, www.wgtd.org. A big thank-you to Dave McGrath at WGTD and Jennie Tunkieicz for setting this up.

Next up: State Fair

Thanks to a lot of familiar faces, we had an enthusiastic crowd on July 28 at the Delafield Brewhaus. We appreciate the support, and we appreciate the Brewhaus booking us to play there. Next up: noon-2:45 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5, at the Major Goolsby’s Stage at the Wisconsin State Fair. Major Goolsby’s sponsors the best side stage at the fair. Why it’s the best: carpeted stage, great sound system, air-conditioned dressing room, friendly staff and, of course, an excellent selection of food. A big thanks to the Major for inviting us back again this year to play!

Thanks, Summerfest!

Thanks to everyone who braved 90-degree weather and similar humidity to hear us perform July 5 at the U.S. Cellular Connection Stage. Everything ran smoothly, from the load-in to the load-out. The new stage is fantastic, and the folks who take care of the bands are amazing. IMG_4808.jpg

Next up: Summerfest

Thanks to the Mad Steintist in Waukesha for inviting us to play on Friday, June 22. We had a great crowd, and we hope to return there soon. Next Up: Summerfest. We were honored to be asked to perform last year at the old U.S. Cellular Connection Stage at Summerfest 2017. We are very grateful to be asked back to perform at the new and improved U.S. Cellular Connection Stage for Summerfest 2018. The stage will feature a full day of country-leaning music, including the WhiskeyBelles, Jimmie Allen, Devin Dawson and headliner Brett Young. In addition to playing music from our first two CDs, we also may perform a song or two from the early days of country/ pop music to start the country music theme of the day. Hope to see you there at 2 p.m. July 5.

Next up: Mad Steintist

Thanks to Todd Fink, sound tech Rob and the rest of the Potawatomi crew for allowing us to play in such a professional venue on Friday night, June 15. They really know how to treat musicians well. Next up: Friday, June 22, at the Mad Steintist, 200 Madison St., Waukesha. First power chord will be struck at 8:30 p.m. The Mad Steintist, formerly the Lucky Rabbit, is a great live music venue with ample seating, a formal stage, friendly bartenders and great drink specials.
